One of Clint Eastwood's more recent and successful films is Gran Torino. This film was shot on location in a park near Detroit. The story was set in present time over a 3 week period but not in the time suitable for Walt Kowalski's liking. Clint Eastwood stars as the recently widowed Walt Kowalski looking for nothing to make his already sorrowful life happy and is trying to live with a life threatening cancer . His family tries to help him out with some gifts that they think will make his life easier but once his son's wife pulls out the retirement home panphlets Walt comes to realization that his family would be no use. This old timer is later befriended by his Hmong neighbors and Father Janovich; they saw how brave he was to protect the teenage boy, Thao, from his rebellion cousins, thus erected "get off my lawn". Because of the beautiful delicacy of Walt's Gran Torino, Tao now has to work off his rebellion tactic of trying to steal it by doing chores around the house. During the film the relationship between Walt and Tao build up and Walt's understanding of the Hmong culture grows. Tao's sister, Su, reveals a new kind of family and helps Walt show that he still has love in his heart. Father Janovich tries to persuade Walt to express his feelings and get back into touch with God. Whenever a problem arises though, Walt tries to fix it himself and Father is always left in the dark of wanting to assist Walt as it was Walt's wife dying wish. Clint Eastwood has done a great job in masterly editing this film, though it is chronological, the quick cuts that he incorporates into shots where he becomes irrate and his fighting sequences make his auteur career truley orginal. Also it's very awesome how he brings out his old characters into his new movies. There is a glance of William Munny in Kawolski's character when the famous "Get off my lawn" scene arises. Also the next "irrate moment" that was edited very well which is the bottom video clip.
